Specialist role – Delivery manager
One of 5 Project/Delivery Management roles (see BPDM001-5). To create clear, pragmatic, manageable plans within the Borders and Immigration Portfolios of Programmes To build teams to define, design, deliver and run technology projects using appropriate project management methodologies. To Identify warning signs and provide decisive responses to significant delivery challenges.

Expected contract length Up to 24 months or completion of the services.

Who the specialist will work with:
Key stakeholders within Border Force, UKVI, Home Office Digital Data and Technology, Home Office and Security Services. The programmes are resourced by a range of specialist resources; civil servants, contractors and interims.
What the specialist will work on:
To create clear, pragmatic, manageable plans for delivery within the Borders anwod Immigration Portfolios of Programmes. To build delivery teams to define, design, deliver and run one or more technology projects using appropriate project management methodologies. To Identify warning signs and provide decisive responses to significant delivery challenges. The specialist will be expected to develop and manage:- Project plans; Resource requirements; Risks and Issues; Dependency matrices; Work breakdown structures
Skills and experience
Essential skills and experience:
Experience of managing programmes to budget and schedule using agile project management methods and appropriate scope management
Demonstrate experience of successful delivery of complex projects over time and with a clear approach to resolution of issues and risk mitigation
Demonstrate understanding of delivering digital services/ products to the Government Digital Service standard and delivery issues
Note: This is 1 of 5 similar requirements. A maximum of 10 specialists across all 5 roles will be interviewed.
Nice-to-have skills and experience:
Previous successful experience delivering digital services within Government
Experience in Border security and Immigration requirements and business processes, issues and solutions
Demonstrate understanding of technical architecture, agile delivery, IT reusable services and technical design patterns
Accreditation to recognised industry standards in project and programme management (MSP Practitioner, MAPM or equivalent)
Accreditation in Agile methods such as RUP, Scrum or DSDM
Understanding of Service Delivery to ITIL standards
Experience and delivery to GDS Service Assessment, Security Health Check, Penetration Testing, HO Service Readiness and Home Office release reviews as part of quality and acceptance tests
Experience of challenging and removing unnecessary barriers to service delivery
Provide demonstrable experience of creating and assuring end to end plans, mapping out dependences and work breakdown structures
Experience of managing expectations and reporting to a wide range of internal departmental and cross Government stakeholders including those at a senior level
